If you only have one day to explore Florence, the incomparable cradle of the Renaissance, this tour is an opportunity to feel the history, admire architectural masterpieces, and stroll the alleys that were once home to the likes of Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Dante.
Florence, with its magnificent cathedral dome, unique sculptures in the squares, traditional leather markets, and stunning views from the hills, is a city where art and life are intertwined.
On this one-day tour, accompanied by a Persian-speaking guide, you will have a coherent and rich experience of the city. From Piazza Duomo to Piazzale Michelangelo, from historic bridges to lesser-known but mysterious neighborhoods, you will not only see Florence, but also live it. This tour tells the story of Italy’s most artistic city; on a path designed to discover beauty, understand culture and record a lasting memory.
We begin our tour in the beating heart of Florence, where architecture, art, and faith come together in a spot called Piazza Duomo. In the middle of the square, the magnificent church of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its massive brick dome, stands tall like a Renaissance statue. The surrounding area is filled with tourists, the sound of cameras, and heads turning in awe of this masterpiece.
We enter the church in silence. The columns are tall, the windows are stained, and the altars are adorned with paintings by Florentine masters. Our gaze turns to the dome, where Vasari's apocalyptic painting tells the story of salvation on architectural heights.
Visiting time: about 1 hour
Now the choice is ours: either climb the 463 steps to the dome for a magnificent view of the city and the Tuscan hills from the top of the church, or instead climb Giotto's Tower, which is next to the church. Either way, the reward is a sight to behold: a view of the tiled roofs, the Arno River, and towers that still retain their medieval spirit.
Along the way up, we will feel a sense of closeness to art, the efforts of architects, and the calm rhythm of the city's breathing.
Visiting time: about 45 minutes
We leave the Duomo and head through the backstreets of Florence to Piazza San Lorenzo. Here, the Church of San Lorenzo, with its simple facade but artistic interior, is one of the oldest churches in the city, once the seat of the Medici family. If time permits, we will also take a look at the Lorenziana Library, a masterpiece of Michelangelo's spatial design and staircases.
Around the square, Florence's leather market comes to life; stalls selling handmade leather bags, belts, shoes and local souvenirs, with the smell of leather and warm colours, evoke a sense of everyday life in the city. Here, there is a chance to shop, haggle and chat with local vendors.
Visiting time: about 45 minutes
We head to Piazza della Signoria, an open-air museum where statues of heroes, gods, and kings showcase the city's historical and artistic heritage. In this square, Palazzo Vecchio stands with its watchtower, still embodying the spirit of the Florentine Republic.
At the edge of the square, we arrive at the famous Uffizi Gallery. Although a full visit to the museum requires a separate time, on this tour our guide will provide an outside look and a concise introduction to its treasures, including works by Botticelli, da Vinci, Raphael and other greats.
Visiting time: about 45 minutes
After the art tour, we have time to relax and have lunch. In one of the traditional restaurants near the square or by the river, we will get to know the local Florentine dishes such as Florentine steak, pappardelle with boar meat or ribollita soup. Desserts such as tiramisu or panna cotta, accompanied by Italian coffee, complete the pleasure of this meal.
It is an opportunity to sit, talk, and prepare to continue on the path.
Duration: About 1 hour
From Piazza della Signoria we head towards the river and arrive at one of the eternal symbols of Florence: Ponte Vecchio, the oldest stone bridge in the city, which creates a poetic and unique landscape with its small goldsmith shops and colored wooden windows. As we cross the bridge, the gentle sound of the Arno River flows beneath our feet and around us, tourists, street musicians and local vendors create a lively and warm atmosphere in this area.
At the end of the bridge, we stop in the open courtyard of the Pitti Palace. This magnificent palace, once the residence of the powerful Medici and Lorraine families, is now a treasure trove of art, architecture, and aristocratic life from centuries past. On this tour, we take an outside look at the palace and its grand architecture, and learn more about the galleries, the gardens behind it, and the history of the palace.
Visiting time: about 45 minutes
Depending on the time and desire of the group, we can choose one of two paths:
Or venture into the backstreets of the Ultre Arno neighborhood; a lesser-known but very authentic place, with woodcarving workshops, painting studios, pottery shops and old cafes that have preserved the true spirit of Florentine life.
Or go to the entrance of one of the famous gardens behind the palace, such as the Boboli Gardens or the Bardi Gardens, and experience peaceful and inspiring moments among the stone paths, fountains, ancient statues, and hilly landscapes.
Both routes present us with a different side of Florence: one cultural and popular, the other aristocratic and artistic.
Visiting time: about 1 hour
At the end of the tour, we will go to one of the most iconic landmarks in Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, located on a hill in the east of the city. The access road may be a bit uphill, but it is worth it. From this point, the whole of Florence can be seen below, with its tiled roofs, the dome of the Duomo, the Arno River and its historic bridges. If the weather is clear, the Tuscan mountains create a unique backdrop.
In the square, there is a large copy of Michelangelo's David, and there is space to sit, take pictures, and enjoy the city's peaceful silence. If we are lucky, a street musician with his classical guitar will turn this moment into a lasting image.
Visiting time: about 45 minutes
